I respect the message to "love yourself as you are" up to a point, I think it is also important to deliver the message that you don't have to just passively accept things that really bother you. If your nose really bothers you, and you can afford to get it fixed, you should do it.  My grandmother hated her nose her entire life.  I never understood why she was such a martyr about it.  Give yourself permission to fix it, and move on.  [/quote]

I totally agree with this.  I had a nose job as a teen and the"love yourself as you are and as God made you" message that I got from people really created a lot of shame for me.  I also didn't understand why no one told my friends who needed braces to love their teeth as they were and how that "fix" was more acceptable.  Do it.  I have never once regretted it and I would support my children in doing something similar.
