Smithsonian natural history museum has them
They also have tarantulas
But they're dead, right? (Bonus for me, but not quite as cool for him).
Not only are they not dead, but they also do a tarantula feeding where they put the tarantula out on the floor, the kids gather around in a circle, and they show a tarantula eat a live cricket (i think it was a cricket, but I can't quite recall). It's pretty cool; I definitely don't like spiders but it was cool to watch. They have a pretty good insect/spider / creepy-crawly area of the museum. Your DS will love it.
We've been to the natural history museum so many times but I had no idea. We mostly spend our time on the 1st floor and occasionally make it to gems and minerals. I will have to take him :) and thank you !
