Our bus is always late, so kids -- and parents -- do sometimes end up waiting for 10 or so minutes. As for the original question, I dunno, when my daughter was in K, she was the only kindergartener at our bus stop, and the rest of the crowd were older children, mostly boys. Oh, well, she just waited quietly until the bus came. A couple of weeks in she happened to sit on the bus next to a first-grade boy, and they became quick friends, on their own, without me intervening . OP, I'd say, give it time and don't helicopter.
