Ok, I have a similar question about the divers? Why do they splash "hot tub water" on themselves after they dive?
And why are they always wiping themselves off with these little towels?
Those are shammies and they absorb the water super quick and well. We actually use them to wipe down the shower afterwards to keep mildew at bay, but I digress. Diving is easier when you're as dry as possible. The water droplets can be distracting. Hence the quick dry method of a shammy.
Then why not just a big beach towel made with the same material as a shammy? Just wrap it around yourself and your dry instantly. Similar to muscle shakes, I guess that's why I see swimmers slap themselves before swimming. Anyway, this thread is just cracking me up. All these little quirks for each sport... I've learned quite a bit.
That is a really good point! Why IS it so small. I have even seen divers wipe down the board with their shammies (we called them sammies...)
