I don't want a big gov't, especially one that tells me how to parent.  But, healthcare is a completely different ballgame. When we have a system where people's lives can be decimated, financially and/or mortally, due to lack of quality healthcare, that's not the gov't taking care of you.  That's a system that leaves the weakest of us behind.  I say this as someone who is self-employed, makes six figures, some years pay $100K in taxes, and had a hard time getting private insurance pre-ACA.   [/quote]

Healthcare comes with good jobs.   That is what underemployed or the unemployed really want.   That is what Trump is promising to remedy, just like when America was Great.   The message has a lot of traction in the Rust Belt.[/quote]
But, if you want to create your own business, it was really hard to get private health insurance.  Plus, small companies didn't have to provide health care to their employees.  Now, at least, these people can get insurance.

And what happens if someone gets laid off due to something else other than globalization, or gets really sick so they can't work?   They would be screwed because most of these people don't have enough savings to see them through.  Also, I knew someone who ended up dying of cancer bankrupt because the person hit the lifetime limit.

ACA helps the general public.  There will be bits and pieces of it that are useless for some people, but you take the good with the bad.  ACA also forces insurance companies to pay for some mental healthcare.  And we really need this if we are not going to have stricter gun control because god knows we have enough crazy people who can access guns so easily.  Aren't all these gun rights advocates saying we should have better mental health coverage.. well there you go... ACA is helping your cause.[/quote]
