I think the network's thinking was more about saving Good Morning America with a popular personality.  Its ratings are lagging.

I'm sure they decided not to tell Ripa because she would have managed to keep him on Live.  Either way, she didn't have a choice in the matter, when the fact is that she's been absolutely essential to the success of the show.  A big part of its success is the chemistry between the hosts.  Strahan was an unorthodox pairing but she pushed for him and it worked.  It's like taking a risk in your job, having it pay off really well for your employer, and then having it pulled out from underneath.  She has every reason to be angry about it.[/quote]

What happened to GMA? I remember them having a huge celebration just a couple of years ago because they had finally beaten Today in the ratings.  [/quote]
