The dumbest part about these Bernie dead-enders is that they are effectively pushing Clinton more to the center. If Bernie and his supporters give their full backing to Clinton, then she will have an overwhelming majority in the election. She will have a massive mandate, and the Senate will almost certainly flip Democrat. The House likely will stay Republican, but it will be a fairly close call. But when they threaten to stay home or protest vote, what does that force Clinton to do? She's got to make up those votes by drifting to the center and taking them from Trump. If you Bernie fans would just set your bruised egos aside for a moment and think, you'd realize that you can make more progress by supporting Clinton than by opposing her. If you support her, she can have the confidence to keep further left. But no, you seem to want to cut off your nose to spite your face.
PP again. Also, when she's forced to drift to the center because the far-left people are threatening her, the center votes she gains are not as good for other Democratic candidates. She might get some centrist voters who are opposed to Trump, but many of them won't translate to votes for other Democratic candidates in Congress or state elections. The left wing votes for Hillary are good not only at keeping Hillary away from the center, but also at tilting Congress to the left. That's especially important because if Hillary wins the presidency, but gets stuck with a Republican Congress, then the only way she can accomplish anything is by making centrist deals with the Republicans in Congress. By refusing to support Hillary because you think she's too centrist, you're actually forcing her to be more centrist. It's a self-fulfilling prophecy. Put your damn egos aside and think about it.
Totally agree with you. The Berniebots rant and rage that they want change, but their full focus is on the Oval Office. They don't give a shit about Congressional elections and they completely dismiss the SCOTUS issue. Do they realize what will happen to progressive politics if President Cruz gets to nominate the next 2-4 justices???
