I assume this was my "Jesus didn't die for MY sins" thread. It's true - He didn't. You know, there are any number of posts and threads on this site that absolutely overtly harass/troll/denigrate nonbelievers and religious minorities and they're A-OK, but someone posts an alternate POV and the Christians go Full Victim. It'd be funny if it weren't so pathetic. How weak is your faith that you can't handle a poke back?
It is very tiring that no mater what I do, someone points to some example to claim inconsistency. Unless you reported one of those "any number of posts or threads" and I ignored your report, it is really irrelevant because I likely don't know anything about it. But, in the case of this thread, you might have picked a more appropriate day.
No one reports them because no one (FTR: including myself) finds them mean or inappropriate unless it crosses over into outright hate. But poke a little fun at the Jesus crowd and next thing you know you're being asked to delete a thread. Something about motes and beams comes to mind... The timing was intentional, BTW. I've spent the entire weekend so far being told some dude of questionable historic provenance was executed 2000 years before I was even born to take the fall for my personal behavior. Yeah; thanks but no thanks dude.
People do report those posts and Jeff often responds. He is not reading every thread so when someone tries to hijack a thread or posts just to mock he will review and delete where he finds it appropriate. For example, in the thread discussing communion in a Methodist church vs Catholic First Communion, an atheist (perhaps you) kept repeatedly jumping in, slurring Christians, Catholics ans religious alike, calling them names, insulting Methodist communion by saying it means nothing more than a snack and that Methodists and atheists believe the same about communion in that they both believe it means nothing, name calling believers and more. I reported and maybe others did too. Jeff reviewed and deleted several posts (possibly by you). I don't share many of the same beliefs as the moderator, but having reported more than a few posts myself I believe that he tries to be as objective and fair as one can be with these things. He does not actively patrol Christian threads in the way he does threads about Islam, but if you bring something to his attention he certainly tries to give it a fair assessment. BTW, if you don't want to hear discussions of Christ on Easter weekend, holy week, or any other religious holiday, why are you spending time visiting threads about Christianity in a religious forum or starting threads about Jesus? If he is nothing bit a fairy tale and believers are so simple minded, why spend so much time as a zealot doing athiest outreach trying to evangelize them to you side? Surely you are smart enough to figure out how not to click on the threads about religion since religon offends you so deeply.
Not me in any of those instances, and I generally try to respect the beliefs of others and refrain from "atheist outreach". Proselytizing is obnoxious no matter why one does it. Unfortunately, Christians in general clearly feel they don't need to apply those same standards to themselves. If they did, I wouldn't have to put up with nearly so much "He Is Risen" jibber-jabber every Spring.
