Not sure about the rest of your list (no personal experience) but the above are NOT good choices for someone who wants a preppy, fratty, conservative type school. I went to Carleton, have a kid at Mac, and have lots of friends/relatives who attended Gustavus Adolphus and they are all very liberal, intellectual, kind of hipster-y type places. In fact, I'd suggest these three schools to someone who absolutely DOESN'T want a school at all like W&L.

Carleton and Mac are also among the most selective liberal arts colleges in the nation (Gustavus Adolphus less so), comparable to or even more selective than W&L. [/quote]

Another Carleton alum here and I laughed when I saw Carleton on the list. I don't think Paleocon will be comfortable in the school that birthed the late Paul Wellstone. [b]Carleton is also pretty unpreppy, although I was comfortable there in my green wide wale cords and whale print belts[/b].[/quote]
