It's actually starting to be a bit less as they are getting older, since they don't need an entirely new wardrobe every three months. Some of their things from last summer/fall still fit (not everything, but it's not like when they were three). I got each of my two boys four new t-shirts, three new pairs of shorts, a pair of tennis shoes, a pair of crocs, two new pairs of pajamas, and a swim suit. Plus I got my oldest 5 pairs used nike basketball shorts and 5 t-shirts to run around in (his brother will just use hand me downs). I spent about $800 all together. I do this 2-3 times a year, so I probably spend about $2000/yr on clothes for two kids.
Depending on the age of the kids, that seems really high when you are doing used clothing for some of it and that little clothing. I'm surprised at what people at Totswap and other places will pay for used clothing. (it just sucks you only get 65% of the proceed or I'd get almost as much as I paid or the same amount back). It does get easier when they get older till they hit the big teen growth spurts. A lot of my son's summer stuff still fit but not sure if we will make it through the summer (no biggie, I have tons of teeshirts and some shorts so I'd only have to buy a few).
