Then, at 10 weeks, my OB's office drew blood for the NIPT/cell-free dna test through Counsyl. Since I didn't have any of the necessary risk factors and am under 35, my insurance wouldn't cover it. Counsyl advised that if they sent it through my insurance it would most likely cost around $800 dollars but if they billed me directly, out of pocket, they would charge $350. I opted to pay for it out of pocket. The results included checking for trisomy and gender.[/quote]
