This is an interesting discucssion. Just had my TSH tested as part of my infertility workup (been TTC for one year, no success) and my TSH is 2.4. RE did not indicate this is anything to be concerned about. However I also have elevated prolactin. I don't have any of the hypothyroid symptoms except a lot of fatigue. Should I see a regular endocrinologist and get on Synthroid?
It wouldn't hurt to consult an endo. My TSH was measured around 3 at SG, and they weren't concerned, but after a few failed transfers I wanted to look into it. When I went to the endo, my reading was 2.17, so he didn't see a point in putting me on meds. I guess this particular endo thinks it is okay to be up to 2.5 for TTC, but others will hold the line at 2. REs seem to vary in what they think is acceptable, from 2 up to 4. I don't know anything about prolactin, sorry.
