All Saints is more orthodox in liturgy and teaching relative to other DC parishes, but even the Rite I service at 11 while rich in liturgy and music has no smells or bells and is not a sung mass. It's a wonderful, vibrant parish though and should definitely be on your list if you're visiting around. While you'll find many "conservative" parishioners, you certainly couldn't paint everyone with that brush and you'll find a pretty diverse community in terms of church background, current views on the state of the Episcopal church and, I suspect, politically too though it really doesn't ever come up in regular conversation among parishioners.

Ascension & St. Agnes and St. Paul's are the two high liturgical parishes in the Episcopal church in DC with sung masses. Both are lovely places and the full worship experience is very rich.

Most churches that now identify as Anglican as opposed to Episcopal (i.e., the break-away churches like Restoration) may feel downright evangelical to you if you're accustomed to Rite I mass. Rich in community and worship, but not "high church" by any stretch.

One other non-Episcopal option for a conservative, higher-church experience is Immanuel Lutheran in Alexandria. It's Missouri Synod and has a traditional liturgy and beautiful music program as well. It's so conservative that I understand you can't take communion unless you also identify as a Missouri Synod Lutheran.[/quote]
