MIL is too old to slap in the face; but I do it in my mind about 30 times in 3 hours.  It's therapeutic.  She is a spoiled, nasty, cold, antisocial, know it all, self righteous, bitter hag.  Debating if someday I should just say so to her face.  I am pretty sure everyone in company knows how I feel, and most of them feel the same way. She can't say anything nice about anyone but total strangers; and it's her way of the highway.  She thinks she has had it so rough, and that no one else deserves anything positive or pleasant (except her favorite child, whom she enables, another topic altogether).  She shouldn't make me want to throw up, but she does.

So yeah, I try to not let MIL overshadow what was always my favorite time of year (or any other time); I make it about the kids.

ours is about the loser BIL who is nothing but a drag on his family and can't even get it together to realize what a burden he AND his kids are on his mother who is trying to care for their cancer-ridden and now parapalegic father.
