Yes, this is a lovely idea, too.

OP sounds like she's at a family childcare, in someone's home?  Just bake 2 dozen cookies (with NO nuts, peanuts or nut/peanut flavorings if they are sensitive to that at your childcare) and call it a day.  You do NOT need to do this.  Next year, if you want to, you can start doing a cash gift, once you have a longer relationship with them.

And to the PP who doesn't have the money for a holiday gift (or Christmas, or Hanukkah, depending on what the provider celebrates) - please just do what you can do. Can you, too, bake 2 dozen cookies or brownies? Yum![/quote]
