I wouldnt mind and would encourage them to help themselves. If there's anything off limits, just hide it or tell them it's off limits. If they are staying for 2 weeks, I'd imagine they would go through a lot of food. You could also let them know the closest supermarkets near you so they can do some food shopping while they are there.
OP here! They don't do grocery shopping. Plus even if they decide to go they ask DH for credit card
NP here! **************Then don't stock expensive food in your house during their visits. PROBLEM SOLVED!**********************
Its holiday time plus we don't get enough notice in advance. We come to know 3-4 days before. By then, I already have stuff @ home. Plus I keep stuff around for kids
1) No one gets to enter your home without your permission. If they only give a few days of advance notice, SAY NO and then suggest dates that would work. 2) Even if you have the food already, hide it if you don't want to share it: Put it in luggage in your closet, take perishables to a neighbors' house, if it is that big of a deal for you. See, you actually don't have an In-Law problem. You have a DOORMAT problem. You are spineless and lack resourcefulness.
