This is also what happened at my sons' school, but he was not identified until 4th.  In his case, it took a new gifted resource teacher and his 4th grade teacher to see what I had seen at home for years.  So in my experience, it really depends on the school, the teacher, and the gifted resource teacher.  [/quote]
