I hate when I want water and they give me a tiny cup because they are told they have to charge for the bigger cups "meant" for soda. I don't want to have to get up three times in the middle of my meal to refill my water. Sometimes I explain that to them and they'll just hand me a soda cup for free, but when they won't I ask for three or four water cups. Boston Market is the only place I can think of that we go to where this happens, but I know it's happened other places.
I worked at the concession stand in the movie theater back in college and the cups and other items were inventoried each night. If someone wanted a cup they had to pay for it. If we were short at the end of the night we were written up. The issue is with the corporation or management. The workers are just doing as they are told.
I know. That's why I ask for the soda cup but don't push it. I was a cashier once and remember being told if our till was over or under any more than $2, we would get fired.
Or just get your lazy ass up! Or bring a reusable cup! I can't beleieve you can't see your way out of this conundrum.
