So wont you move to Montgomery County were they dont even hand out "grades" anymore but give out "P"'s for passing. Which is cute until your child gets to middle school and you realize that "P" was a "c" average and not the A+ you were assuming. Not to mention those "Bethesda & Potomac" clusters parents have been fleeing to private schools in record numbers. Lets make PG the best system possible, no need to compare it other school systems, the grass always look greener on the other side. I dont view this school system as horrible either, never did honestly.
It is irrelevant how you view it, what matters is college admission offices and how the outside world views the children who get out out into to the world with just an education to differentiate them form the countless others. Problem is the county isn't taken seriously and that affects kids.
Wait so my childs 4.00 GPA and high SAT SCORES wont matter because they are in the Prince Georges County school system? If thats the case then why does it matter what the county average SAT score is, they wont be taken seriously regardless. There have been plenty of students in this system that have gone on to Ivy League universities, hasn't hurt them.
I don't understand your argument. If your child is thriving, then why not release the scores for the county? I don't see what one has to do with the other. I think the argument the PP was making is that by not releasing the report, the county looks like it's trying to hide something or that they are puposely brushing difficult issues under the rug by ignoring the numbers. I don't think anyone is saying NO child gets a 4.0 in the county and NO child from PG goes on to recieve a great higher education. PG needs to mirror the other counties in order to show it can play with the big boys. This has nothing to do with individual children not being taken seriously.
