Op here, thank you for all the responses. I want to address the anxiety now while she is still young so it doesn't get worse by middle and high school. Should I talk to her pediatrician or go straight to therapy? How did you bring it up with your dc in a way they would understand at age 7? Her anxiety is making my anxiety worse ?
I would talk to your pediatrician first - if nothing else, they will be able to answer some of your questions and might have helpful suggestions on who to go to for therapy. With our child, we talked about it in terms of getting some help for them so they know how to deal with the feelings of anxiety and fear they are having. At that age, there is no stigma attached to therapy, so you don't have to worry about that. Of course her anxiety is making yours worse - because you are a good parent and care a lot about your kid. I don't even have anxiety, but when DCs anxiety acts up it makes me feel awful for DC.
