^^^ the NCAA better enact harsh penalties including stripping all wins and championships during the cheating period or they show blatant racism and support for modern day slavery. These athletes were not compensated with an education in any way , shape or form.
I am AA and a former ACC athlete and I agree with this. The "deal" is using my athletic skill to the benefit of your school (and its bottom line) in exchange for a quality education. At some schools, the deal is different - "in exchange for a short train to the pros." But UNC billed itself as a school for the true student athlete. So they used athletes but gave them a scrap education in return - an education far inferior to the education that other students got. Imagine the stigma. For many of these kids, the fact that they went to UNC AND played sports is a strike against them because people will assume that their education is sub-standard. Worse part about it is that they were advised to take these types of classes -even the ones who did not want to. A group of former AA student athletes are suing the school and a number are transferring out. I know that it happens other places - my alma mater used to discourage revenue athletes from majoring in STEM fields - but for it to be so blantant at UNC is a shame.
