This is kind of a bummer ... I was thinking of joining the waitlist because I would like a little bit more than the neighborhood swim clubs have to offer ... e.g., good snack bar, drinks, nicer amenities, and of course, golf. But the nearly unanimous refrain of social climbing / snobbery is disheartening. I grew up in a country club and do fine among the 'society' set, but I prefer a down to earth crowd that is a little rough around the edges and happy to be. I live in Arlington, so WGCC is the most convenient, but does a place that's less superficial exist (cognizant we are talking about CCs)? Or, is this just sniping from the crowd that hates country clubs under any circumstance?
What does this mean? Just wondering. They like to drink and have a good time, or they are a bit trashy?
Haha ... I'm the PP ... more the former - drink & have a good time. Live and let live kind of people. Folks that don't mind leaving the house without an 'outfit' and are happy to have kids in mismatched socks if it means they dressed themselves. Trashy falls more in the 'rough' category than the 'rough around the edges' bucket.
