The most awesome thing in my house is my formal china. My taste runs simple, generally speaking, but I went crazy and got the Haviland & Parlon Syracuse in turquoise. It makes me happy. :) V&B is great. Good friends have the famous fruit pattern and they use it all the time instead of saving it for holidays.
Wow. I don't own formal China and have never wanted it (other than my mom's, someday) but I love that. It is literally the most beautiful I've ever seen.
Oh my god, that is GORGEOUS! I hate the dishes my mother left. We use them because I feel stuck. They're Noritake, so they may not be too difficult to off load. 12 place settings. I hate it. They are neutral beyond neutral, which in no way even reflects my mother's taste. She painted the walls of her home a spiced pumpkin and filled the space with eye-popping ethic art pieces. Maybe these dishes are what she used to balance things out? Honey, I love the H&P set you have. Hmmm....Mind if I trade up as a Xmas gift to myself? They are amazing!! You've just brightened my day! What fun! Like you, I'd definitely use them as our every day.
Thank you! :D We don't have the full place settings, nor did we pay full price. We got the dinner and dessert plates only (didn't need bread, are unlikely to use soup bowls, and will get the coffee cups someday). Michael C. Fina and Gump's both carry the pattern and have 25-30% off sales every now and then. But even then, yes, the price is insane. I swear I am not normally this crazy but once I saw that pattern nothing else would do. I spent two years trying to talk myself out of it but failed. I looooooove it
