I always find that the cheap pillows I buy at Kohls, Macys, Costco, TJ Max or Homegoods just mash down into sorry limp wafers over time. I don't want to spend $200 either, but there have got to be pillows out there that are made of good enough materials that they don't have to be replaced every year. Ideas?
It's actually healthy to replace your pillows on a semi-frequent basis. The amount of dead skin and dust mite fodder in there is pretty gross. I try to replace my pillows about once a year. "One report, presented at the Healthcare Associated Infections 2011 meeting in London, found an array of microorganisms and debris inside pillows. In fact, within 2 years of use, one-third of a pillow’s weight comprises dead skin cells, bugs, dead dust mites and their droppings, according to the research cited in a Daily Mail article." http://news.discovery.com/human/pillow-insides-110627.htm
