What do parents think about Stuart Hobson vs Hardy? Which is preferred if given a choice. Thanks in advance!!
We were given a choice and picked SH. Part of it was about our commute. The other piece is our liking of SH's honors program. While both SEM schools (Hardy's SEM program is otherwise better developed than SH's), SH has placed a stronger emphasis on offering a range of honor's programs. It's also been at the forefront of extending the school day and letting students design their schedule, which occasionally allows a gifted student to loop into upper level offerings. Hardy has double-periods (A & B days), which I liked to calm things down and ensure focus, SH does not, making for a little more tumultuous classroom transitions. But it's also a little easier to handle for kids - same schedule ever day. Both schools, due to SEM, place an emphasis on project-based learning. I'd say SH has a few more longer-standing partnerships to so so and allows a student to pursue them all starting 6th grade if that's what he/she wants to do. I believe SH has a better track-record of getting kids into application high schools but that may have to do with Hardy feeding into Wilson and therefore fewer pursuing that option. And, last but not least, I like the SH uniform better ;-)
