I sincerely admire what Hardy is doing, but I am in awe of what Basis has already done for my kids (now plural). Husband works downtown which is comforting in the event of health emergencies, but Basis is the real deal in terms of education.  I did not get this kind of education in 5th-8th at my DC private nor did my brother (and I would have struggled, but learned in the end, while he would have thrived and my mom would not have spent all this time and money trying to find him intellectual stimulation through CTY and Chess etc).

Basis is still a work in progress, but so is Hardy, and Basis has a large infrastructure to back them up and measure, evaluate, and figure out how to help our kids who struggle.  If everyone is struggling in a subject, they usually fire the teacher - brutal, but effective, and they have the nation wide portions of the precomprehensive and comprehensive exams that we all take to evaluate whether kids in DC are learning what we need to, learning it fast enough, the data is incredible, their dedication is impressive, our DC CAS scores were #3 and then #2 (right after Deal), and and we were NEVER going to send our kids to Wilson because they are not white and we did not want them to be in a place where assumptions are made, stereotypes are confirmed, and our kids would be  at risk for falling in with the wrong kids for "acting white."
