In HS (2001 or so), a Korean male classmate and I were running late for a field trip in DC and took the Metro together. On the train, I kept noticing stares. At first I figured maybe we were giggling too hard. So I'd forget about it and then look up to someone else watching us. Nothing offensive, but I kept wondering if I had something odd on my face or a stain on my clothing. We transferred trains and it was the same thing. As we exited the Metro station, it was raining and we had to share an umbrella and we got stares from practically everyone to the point where I looked up to ask him if he noticed anything odd going on and it hit me that people probably thought we were a couple! Particularly as we shared my tiny umbrella. It was then that it occurred to me that I had only seen one other AA woman/Asian male pairing.

A few years later, I remember being in LA for the first time and having a few Asian guys approach my friends and me on Sunset. I actually looked behind me, because I thought they must have been talking to other women.lol[/quote]
