OP here -- this is one I'm considering. Not sure if I like the chairs. But I like the rectangular shape and the fact that it can extend out to a square that seats 8. Most of the time we'd be just four at the rectangle. http://www.jcpenney.com/dining-possibilities-5-pc-counter-height-rectangular-dining-set/prod.jump?ppId=pp5004050811&catId=cat100250054&deptId=cat100240019&&_dyncharset=UTF-8&colorizedImg=DP0505201417180510M.tif What do you think?
OP! I actually HAVE this exact table and it's such great quality! I bought it maybe 6 years ago when I was single and living in the city -- it was a great fit for my airy open high ceilinged city apartment. It has moved with us three times since I bought it (further and further out to the suburbs and now I have a husband and kid). I have to say that it has held up VERY well, it has a few scratches that I think I could cover up with a marker but haven't done and I really love that the leaf folds out of the table. That said, it's a VERY tight fit with 8 people so I don't recommend it if that's what you want it for. We normally keep it a rectangle with 4 chairs but we can seat 6 at the rectangle tightly and 6 is much better when it's a square. I haven't tried 8 but considering the tight fit with 2 on one side when it's a rectangle, I can't imagine it's any different when it's a square. It's a great table, but not practical now that I have a climbing toddler - we're actually going to get rid of it and instead buy a rectangular table with a bench and leaf that expands it out to a larger rectangle. I'm also just getting sick of it, whereas our previous homes (other than loft-like apartment) had a separate dining room, our new place is completely open and it is too tall compared to our other furniture and looks awkward. I can't wait to get rid of it -- just waiting a few months since we've spent so much money since we moved in! Um….after all that if you still want to buy it, and might want a used table in great condition, post here and maybe we can work something out.
