Majority of students at our local es and ms schools are not advanced so vast majority of attention and teaching resources are thus aimed to help those. Smaller number of higher achievers are left with little academic challenge and consequently decreasing motivation. The point is that all students deserve appropriate level of challenge and it is not really happening in some corners of mcps and probably elsewhere.
Does MCPS has Tag Center like Glenarden Woods & Heather Hills in Prince Georges County? Parents in PG can opt out of those local school to send their kids to an all TAG School if they choose to. If not the kids will receive the TAG curriculum at the local school. Some parents like the local school and choose not to opt out, some like the all TAG centers, though they say it can be somewhat of a pressure cooker and loads of work in class & out. But the TAG centers do produce great testing results I think they were no. 2 & 3 in the entire state Last year
