A parent can nominate his or her child even if they miss the cut off (as can a teacher). Also, this is just for the GT centers, there is GT-ish work at the home schools as well. In theory, a child should get GT-ish work if her or she is ready for it, even if they are not in a center. The parent or teacher would speak to the GT specialist at the school. So bright (but apparently not "gifted") kids should not be left out. Of course, the parent has to be the advocate.[/quote]
