Thinking of putting built in bookshelves in ours and using it as a library. We have a lot of books!
That's a good idea. We use our formal living room when we have guests over. Great to sit around the fire and talk, have drinks, etc. We also have our piano in there and so spend time there every day for practice. And I escape there to read sometimes, too, while the rest of the family watches TV. We don't have a TV in there. I also like that this room looks the nicest -- no toys, we invested in nice window treatments and furniture, etc -- because when you walk into the house you see it first and it's a lovely welcome home. Our family room has toys all over, older furniture that I don't care if the kids spill on, etc. We spend most of our time there, but I wouldn't want anyone coming in the front door to have it as a first impression, including me.
