Transfer Day! All went well. we transferred three. (Which is a whole separate discussion....) Just waiting now. I'm super busy with work and other commitments this week so I'm hoping time flies between now and the 19th. We've got three that are still hanging out in the lab; we'll know in the morning whether they look good enough to freeze. How's everyone doing with injections, etc.? --Sue
Congrats! Did you hear back about the three you didn't transfer? How did you make the decision about how many to put back?
Thanks! The three didn't make it overnight, so once again, nothing to freeze. Which is hard to face, because it means a third full cycle if this one doesn't work. Maybe. I'm not sure I have it in me again. I'm 41, so I was going to always transfer two, if I had two to transfer. I was a little worried about transferring three -- even though I think it's very realistic to acknowledge that the odds of ANY of them sticking around are pretty slim at my age. I'm not being negative. I just know the odds pretty well. One of the blastocycts looked really good. Two were funkier, for different reasons. One was weird on the outer cells, and one a little weird on the inner cells. One of the funky ones looked more promising than the other, so it was an obvious choice. As for the third one, as my RE explained it, if it wasn't going to make it in my uterus, it wasn't going to make it another night to freeze, either. He didn't push us one way or another, but it was clear he thought transferring all three was the best course. I'm not afraid of twins. My RE isn't afraid of them for me, either. I'm in great shape and have plenty of energy, I'm tall, and I'm not any more worried about a twin pregnancy than I would be about having one baby. I also have a sibling with twins, so I understand and accept the financial and other consequences of my decision. I would have only transferred 2 if I were five years younger. But we make the decisions we make with the tools and information and intuition we have at the time, and this seemed like the right decision. I was just happy to be in the position to make it, honestly.
