Many of us are not that enamoured by the Va public colleges. Various reasons.
What are the reasons? Why are you being so vague?
New poster, I'll bite. We currently have a senior who is headed to major in engineering. We looked at Va Tech, Penn State, GA Tech and Purdue. Three are similar wrt their campuses (large, distinct line between town and University, good engineering schools, have established robust co-op programs....) GA was too far south and urban/suburban. He preferred the larger school in a more rural town. He fell in love with Purdue. The tone was very different from the other two. Tech (engineering) seemed way more cut throat than Purdue. Purdue was talking collaboration. That resonated with DC. Don't get me wrong, I love Tech, I am an alumna, but Purdue's presentation and random student testimonials hit it out of the park for my DC. I feel like it is a better fit for him too.
