We are also a 50/50 household and both travel for work and elderly parent support. He misses me and gets tired from picking up all the slack and I miss him and get tired of picking up the slack as well. However our marriage is based on the premise that time alone is a good thing. 15 years on we both appreciate a night of eating popcorn watching baseball for him and a night of wine and cheese watching Scandal for me.
