That is a big part of learning to compete and to win. NP. Unless it's clearly agreed upon ahead of time that it's just a casual pick up type game, I think kids at any age old enough to grasp the concept should put forth their full effort in an activity they've chosen. The ideal result of a sport where score is kept is to have the highest score at the end, iow to win. Why wouldn't both teams be trying to do so? If something is worth doing it is worth doing right -- I would hope my child's coach would not tolerate lack of effort, but I would not want it done in a way that involves swearing.
