For one thing, I wouldn't explain to my child that my child's teacher's behavior was unacceptable and unprofessional. And not just out of respect for the teacher; also out of pure self-preservation, because of the likelihood that my child would raise their hand in class, the next time the teacher ate candy, and say, "My mother said that your behavior is unacceptable and unprofessional."[/quote]
+1.  To my child, I might say, "Oh that's surprising.  I wonder why."  And that's the furthest I would ever go in criticising my child's teacher to my child.[/quote]

I would tell my kid it's none of her business what an adult chooses to do as long as it isn't directly harming someone else, and that my child needs to mind her attitude and stop gossiping about her teacher.[/quote]
