This is a another reason I am in favor of old fashioned at home bday parties. Just makes RSVP's simple- come, don't come, bring siblings or don't. The per person costs and limits at these places makes what should be a small thing - one persons attendance at a kids bday party, not a wedding! - into a bigger thing than it ought to be.
+1 We started having at home old fashioned bday parties this past year, and sorry, we don't invite the whole class (kids are in ES). We email individual parents directly. My kids have summer bday parties so it make it easier. One of the reasons I don't like the big event parties is that the bday party is supposed to be about the bday kid, but at these big events, I've noticed that most of the kids don't even interact with the bday kid. What's the point? I'm just paying to get a bday present from all those kids. No thanks.
