Without doubt you can fight for your kid's placement at the IEP meeting. This weird misdirection from your I&T coordinator is very frustrating to hear, as I did not experience any of that. Your child DOES NOT even have to have an autism diagnosis to get into CAPP. Also, you have to make it very clear to your I&T person that CAPP is where you want your child to be (if this is what you end up wanting), and that is the placement that is most appropriate for her. Thanks for responding..If you don't mind my asking, how old is your son and was there a reason they suggested CAPP to you? Did your DC have any repetitive behaviors or other issues that made you choose CAPP? I spoke again with I&T about CAPP but was told that it is only for children with more delays..was more or less brushed off when I asked about CAPP..Can I insist on touring that progam also when they think my child doesn't need it? How would I know what my DC needs without touring all available classes..[/quote]
