There is wisdom in that famous reminder, "This too shall pass" for both good and bad occasions. (A king had it engraved on a ring to keep him centered)

So I agree with the PPs that say put away the social media and doing anything that has to do with comparing, and just get on with your life.  Try and see the blessing of having wonderful parents.  Many here on DCUM would kill for that.  I have that with one parent and the other is dead.  Others I know have crummy relationships with parents, or non-relationships, or worst of all, horrible parents that drag them down.

And btw OP, as NYE approaches, please don't get sucked into the idea that everyone but you is out there having the time of their lives.  It's total BS.  A media-generated frenzy.  Most people are at home.  I'm in nova now, but have lived on the west coast for years, and most people I know do "New York New Year's" which is 9pm on the west coast and are tucked into their beds by midnight PST.  And of those who are out, many are out just because they feel they have to be out.  (Then of course there are the true partiers but all I'm saying is they are much more of the minority than depicted on TV)[/quote]
