[/quote] Many of us are sloppy cooks; that's not the slam you think it is. I hate my flat top because the previous owners went bottom of the line and it takes for-freaking-ever to heat up and it's kind of insensitive to different temps meaning that anything really sensitive is out. My next house will have gas or induction. Or an old fashioned coil. Why are you working "around" coils anyway? You know you're supposed to use the coils themselves to cook. Tile sucks.
