My oldest DD is currently in PK3 in an OOB school and our youngest DD is eligible for PK3 next school year. If I rank another school at #1 and my oldest DD school #2, does that decrease my chances of getting our youngest into the same school as our oldest?
Who are you talking about entering into the lottery? DD #1 or #2. I assume #2 (youngest). If you rank another school #1 above your older daughter's school and your younger daughter gets in your #1 pick, you younger daughter will not even be waitlisted for your older daughter's school. So, if you REALLY want school #1 more, then list is first and if you get in just accept that is where younger daughter will go, and she will NOT have the option to go to your older daughter's school because she wont' be on the waitlist at all. If this is the route you want to take and you think school #1 will be a good first for your older girl too, then you should be entering her into the lottery too (I assume you are).
Yes, DD #2. I didn't even think about DD#2 getting matched with the #1 school which means no hope for or DD current school. I will now change my picks/strategy and lottery for DD#1 (oldest) into the school I'm considering for DD#2 (less likely to get in at the PK4 level). I will then rank DD#1 school fist followed by the school I'm ranking #1 for DD#2.
