How many families with kids live in the Colonial Village area, I'm wondering? I know there are lots in Shepherd Park. We're considering the area and wouldn't want to be the lone family with kids in a sea of retired people or people whose kids are in high school/college.
Which side of Colonial Village? South closest to 16th St and Shepherd Pk; North Portal Estates area on the Maryland line; or west side of the Park? There are definitely kids in the neighborhood but not en masse. Moreover, the kids that are there are spread out between private, inbounds at Shepherd, and OOBs at schools like Eaton and Hearst. To answer your question... your child won't be the lone kid but, you won't see children running up and down the street either. It's a great neighborhood, but you will have to be proactive. When you see families with children, introduce yourself.
