I am not really opposed to smart phones in school, but please describe how they are used in class. Teacher is teaching kids are researching the topic while the lecture is going on? I know I am old but I just have trouble picturing it. I have heard kids just take pictures of the board rather than taking notes. I am not sure that is a great way to learn..though it does save effort.
My son was just telling me about the group project he's working on in his 9th grade science class. There are 3 kids per group. He lucked out and was put in a group where the other two kids spend the whole class period on their phones on social media or texting.
