You just "noticed" something on the web calendar of a school that you're not affiliated with? You seem obsessed with Landon, and with doing anything you can to badmouth the school. Your behavior says so much more about you than it does about Landon.

No.  There is a thread entitled, "What is it like to be Jewish at VA/DC Independent HS?", so I looked up Landon's calendar.  Sorry you are embarrassed (as you should be) that [b]Landon doesn't have any recognition of the Jewish community.[/b][/quote]

As a Jew I would hate for "recognition" to be giving the students the day off. Thats not recognition, thats a holiday, and I can bet that the students who aren't Jewish at schools that do give the day off don't spend it pondering the Jewish New Year. They just think they have a day off.

Schools only do this when they won't have sufficient attendance on those days. When I was growing up no school, except maybe Jewish day schools, gave the day off. I did not feel slighted in the least.

Recognition means learning something about Judaism.

I have no association with Landon and have no reason to be embarrassed, except by your ridiculous post and the possibility that people might think other Jews feel this way.

And by the way, it is a fairly important tenant of Judaism that we don't impose our faith on others. We don't proselytize and we don't believe our way is the only way. We certainly don't believe non-Jews have to observe our holiday in any way shape or form. Your indignation is not particularly Jewish.[/quote]
