OP here. Thanks for the feedback. It is a govt job, not DC, so the way it works here once a position is created it never dissapears. So it will exist in perpetuity. My DH is primary earner by a lot, but I also live in a low cost of living city so 75k goes a long way over here (that's why I opted for 80%, I value time more at this point). I also forgot to add I get 1+ month paid vacation each year. Yeah, very cushy job with great supervisors who think if I do pne thing all week, I am a superstar. But coming from DC's go-getter work ethic, I feel so uninspired here. Anyways -- my bigges grief is that I would much rather be teaching at a community college or working in student services -- very, very far removed from the law I am practicing. This job's perks is making it difficult to take the leap and follow my dreams. So many people tell me that I will never find another gig like this one (ie-- sane, normal folks in the office, great hour, etc.).
Keep what you got and hone you skills in your down time. Also, since you want to teach do it........most Community Colleges are happy to take on adjuncts these days so you should look into that. Teaching may balance you out and fulfill you in a way the full time gig is not. Doing so will get you some extra cash, keep you happy, and allow you to keep the cushy gig with the great benefits. ~N~
