It all depends on what the interests and life experiences of the people involved have, OP.  I was orphaned at 16 and did a six year stint in the US Army before I started college so I never had much in common with my fellow classmates and men my own age seemed silly to me.  I was just finishing my BA when I met DH.  DH was established in his first career had endured many of life's "hard-knocks" already.  We shared many of the same interests and saw the world in similar ways.  We just kept growing together.  When I finished grad school (an 8 year programs with one more year off to have our daughter), DH retired from his law enforcement job and went back to graduate school!  So now I am the working wife while I am married to a full time student!

Yes, I am aware that the odds are good that DH will die well before I do and our childhood memories about pop culture (TV shows, music, movies) are not the same but it all is a small price to pay for the years of happiness and love we have shared already and the future years we expect to share.
