Follow the rules and there's nothing to worry about. Try out the school for a year and see if it's worth making the investment or sacrifice that other people do. You might be surprised that the better school isn't all that and a bag of chips. There's also the potential disruption of feeder and assignment patterns. Back in the day the practice was "once you're in, you're in". It made economic sense to rent a closet IB and live elsewhere and it was easy to do. Those were also the days when being at a charter school meant school in the basement of a church or over a CVS. A lottery was something you paid for at 7-11. [/quote]
