Op, I know you think you are helping your friends. But you are not. As a DCPS teacher with a verbally abusive principal you are just making their job harder by posting on a public forum. My school is a hot topic on one of these threads and teachers are being 'disciplined' bc the admin thinks they have been writing on this forum. The sad truth is it's a low bar to be a principal here in DC.
Isn't this what unions are for? I don't know much about unions, but seems like they could step in if the majority of teachers file a complaint? Parents and teachers going to a council member seems like a good idea too, but of course it's a huge risk! I hope something is done. Our kids and teachers deserve better.
Not for Charter schools.....
Not OP, but to the teacher saying this doesn't help, then please tell us, exactly what DOES help? If a principal is really this horrible, and teachers are trying to work it out and instead getting harassed even more, please explain exactly how that whole situation gets resolved to advantage of the teacher, the students and the school, without others getting involved? I understand the principal may lash out, and I can understand if teachers at that school are looking for other jobs. But if this principal is really that bad, teachers running away doesn't solve the problem for the students or the school, who are stuck there. So how does the problem get solved if whatever the teachers in your school are doing isn't solving the problem, but you dont' want anyone else to get involved?
