PP you realize this thread is from 2 years ago? I don't know why the PP above you found this old thread and responded.
I'm the PP just above, and yes, I realize it's an old thread. But I still like to mention my experience because I think it's helpful for anyone who might be considering moving to Baltimore for cheaper housing. Don't get me wrong, there are things I love about Baltimore. But I wish I had asked people about the commute before I moved there. When you read the train schedules and read about MARC, it makes it sound not so bad. But I hated it. And it was a lot of hassle for us to move. I wish I had taken more trial runs or rented before buying so I would know if the commute worked.
My SIL did the commute for 5 years without problem. Sure there was an occasional train issue (missed it/came late/etc) but overall she loved it. She drove to MARC, metro to Union Station and then to Gallery Place and then couple minute walk to work. She became friends with several MARC commuters and they all started to sit together regularly. She left that job 5 years ago and doesn't ride MARC anymore but she's still friends with several of her MARC train buddies.
But you've never done the commute yourself. The train issues weren't "occasional" when I took them.
