OP here - feeling discouraged. Finally ready to address my long term fitness goals and attempting to diet and exercise daily with no results to speak of. I actually gained weight but have not smoked still. I know people will say that quitting smoking was such a huge accomplishment that I shouldn't push myself but I'm not wired like that. Can anyone relate? I just want results!
Put your scale in the attic or the basement for the next six months -- you don't need that pressure. And the reason people are saying quitting smoking was a huge accomplishment is because it is. It sounds as though you need something quantifiable, so think about what (besides a number on the scale) would meet that need. The FitBit someone suggested above? Or other tracker -- my DH had a basic Life Trak, which is cheaper. You could put the savings towards another session with a trainer! A chart that shows how much exercise you've gotten each day? Following one of those 30 days to a five-minute plank programs? Keeping track of how many reps you do for weight-lifting? How many flights of stairs you can climb? Could you buy some bargain exercise equipment on CL?
